Mental Supremacy written by Arnold Bennett (1867-1931) was a British writer. He worked for his father nevertheless was unhappy earning very little or no money. The theme of parental miserliness occurs in his works. At twenty one he visited London to clerk for a solicitor. He then started working for a magazine generally known as Women. When he observed the poor material being submitted he started writing a serial for the periodical. Arnold Bennett refers to Mental Efficiency as pocket philosophy. His hints for women and men embody chapters on Expressing Ones Individuality, Breaking with the Past, Settling All the way down to Life, Marriage, Books, Success, The Petty Artificialities, and The Secret of Contentment.
