Lifting Equipment from the Hand of Experts Precise planning guarantees perfect operation The optimum conceptual design is developed in the planning phase with consultation with the user. Design and Operation Spreader beam The following standard adjustments and standard variants are possible; all of the features can be combined in arbitrary ways. Each piece of  lifting equipment has comprehensive operating instructions, the factory test certificate and the declaration of conformity. We will supply documents on static deflection that will provide verification for an audit for an additional charge; special tests (Lloyd Register, Norske Veritas, TÜV etc.) and an overload test are possible without any problems. If the crane hook is not over the load centre of gravity, the overall system will tilt when being lifted until the centre of  gravity is under the crane hook. The higher the lifting beam is built up, the less the system has to tilt to get into the position with the load centre under the crane hook. Handling and Usage Coil hooks, loading forks Consideration has to always be given to the height of the centre of gravity of the load when the load is attached, and it has to be subjected to a critical evaluation! There is no cause for concern if the load center is lower than the load attachment points. If the load centre is higher than the load attachement points, special attention is necessary! If the load-fastening is done incorrectly here, the system could completely tip over! A      A Spreader Beam 1 Spreader Beam 1 Loads have to be picked up and put down in such a way that an unintentional dropping of the load, a breaking apart of  the load or slippage or rolling of the load is prevented. Depending on the application, a protective cage or a slip-resistant prong coating is suitable for this, among other things; in the case of narrow loads, for example slit strips, mechanical safety equipment is to be provided. Transporting of loads with a center of  gravity in front of the suspension unit (in the direction of the prong tip) leads to downward tilting of the prong and is absolutely prohibited. The fixed overall height is the distance from the bearing point of the crane hook to the next hinge point below it, i.e. the distance of the lifting beam below the crane hook that can't change geometrically when the load swings. A shackle pin or even the movable point of support of a frame plate, for example, constitutes a hinge point. The fixed overall height of the lifting beam has to always be significantly greater than the distance from the load attachement point to the height of the center of gravity of the load! Both the spatial X axis and the spatial Z axis are to be subjected to an evaluation here! Lifting beams with eye suspension have small "fixed overall heights". Lifting beams with 4 leg suspensions have larger "fixed overall heights". Note without fail!  A gripper that was designed for positive-locking operation is never permitted to be used as a frictionally-engaged gripper! The load will inevitably slip out of the gripper! Inspection and Maintenance Service Lifting equipment is to be given a  visual and functional inspection before every instance of use; the lifting equipment is to be put out of operation when there are recognizable defects. According to BGR 500, Chap. 2.8, each piece of lifting equipment has to be inspected by a technical specialist at least once a year; depending on the usage conditions, inspections could also be necessary at shorter intervals. A special inspection by a technical specialist is necessary after damage occurs or special events arise that could influence the loadbearing capability, and it is also necessary after maintenance. It must always be determined whether as to whether the load to be lifted has the required coefficient of friction in combination with the surface of the gripper jaw. The prescribed angle of  inclination for the chain tackle must be observed exactly so that the hooks can provide the required grip and not simply slip off the load. At least two riggers are required – four for long sheets of metal – to position and hold the grabs or hooks. One rigger is sufficient for operating the sheet loader grab. The optimised design allows the tare weight to be kept very low, angles of inclination do not need to be set and slipping off of the hooks is no longer possible. These load lifting devices are perfectly suited to one width of coil but where different coil sizes are handled different hooks must be used. If the centre of gravity of the load is not exactly beneath the crane hook the hook will hang at an angle when loaded with the attendant risk of the coil slipping off. Axzion-GKS, the specialist for load lifting gear in the worldwide SpanSet Group, has now developed the Vario coil hook for variable coil widths.  Vario suspension Interchangeable eye-suspension made of  special high-tensile chain steel. The hooks of modern crane systems are considerably smaller and normal hooks fired from structural steel often no longer fit. The suspension is interchangeable and can be subsequently adjusted, e.g. when using the crossbeam in a different building or following the installation of  a new crane. No counterbalance With no load two heavy duty gas struts hold the crane hook suspension within the centre of gravity range. A heavy and bulky counterweight is no longer necessary. One hook for all coil sizes The centre of gravity of the load is quickly and easily changed and the suspension eye glides on its rollers to the lifting position. Decision makers will take note that only one hook has to be purchased. Downtime caused by the continuous replacement of the hooks on the crane is obviated. Commercially available coil hooks are perfectly suited to one coil width of coil but where different coil sizes are handled different hooks must be used. When empty, the lifting point is pressed against the rear limit stop by the wear-free gas strut and automatially hangs in a horizontal position. If such a load needs to be transferred to another building a heavy-load transport vehicle is normally used with the load being transferred with an overhead crane. The newly developed heavy load carrier functions independently of cranes and transporters. The load is picked up with an integrated, hydraulically driven hoist and the factory overhead crane remains free for use in on-going production. The heavy load carrier can then be navigated with millimetre accuracy along narrow ways, steered via a simple to use remote control. The robust wheels are coated with polyurethane and are driven by high-torque hydraulic motors. An on-board battery supplies power to the hydraulic pump which allows the heavy load carrier to be used independently, without external connections. Launch customer, MAN B&W in Denmark, transports marine engines weighing up to 80 t max., within its premises. It was possible to considerably reduce transport times to the engine test stand and to the paint shop for final painting. It is particularly important to note that the heavy load transporter can now be loaded independently of the production line, which eliminates the disruption to ongoing production. Heavy load lift truck  Simple handling Heavy loads such as machine parts, coils and compact steel constructions are usually moved with cranes or large forklifts. Cranes are not available everywhere and cannot be used in all situations. Attaching the load takes time and using a forklift is often much more efficient. Large forklifts require wide passageways to manoeuvre and they must be driven by qualified staff. Heavy load lift trucks function in exactly the same manner as the well-known and widely used pallet trucks but are suitable for heavier loads. The load is lifted via the integrated, hydraulically powered lifting cylinder. The heavy load lift truck is easily manoeuvred via simple to operate controls on the steering drawbar.
