(c) Position the EGRE connector assembly so that pins 7 and 14 are aligned with pins 7 and 14 of the 501A connector on the gain unit. GENERAL (d) Gently push the connector assembly fully engaged with the 501A connector. This section describes installation procedures for the E6 Range Extender (EGRE). beside 1.02 - The EGRE is designed to replace one of the 830-type Line Buildout (LBO) networks in the E6 repeater housing. It may be mounted in either the A or B position (Fig. 1). Power is supplied to the EGRE from the 831A/B gain network via a connector assembly attached to pins 7 and 14 of the 501A connector. (e) Dress excess cable into the recess connecting screw 1. until 8. 2.04 The EGRE provides an increase in effective central office battery voltage for extension of many special access lines or trunks to a nominal value of 2400 ohms. Also, an enable lead is provided to minimize current drain in idle circuit conditions. More detailed information on operation may be found in Section 332-206-129. 2. Install the EGRE on the B side of the E6 repeater housing as follows: (b) Fold the connector assembly under the EGRE and slide unit into the repeater housing. (c) Tighten connecting screws 1, 2, 3, and 4. (d) Align pins 7 and 14 of the connector assembly with pins 7 and 14 of the 501A connector on the gain unit. INSTALLATION (e) 2.01 - Installation (a) Remove 830- or 832-type network. 1.03 - B-Side The EGRE is mounted in the E6 repeater housing on either the A or B side. However, it is recommended that the EGRE be connected on the central office switch side of the E6 and not between the repeater and a nonloaded facility. Removal 2.05 over of E6RE Remove the EGRE from housing as follows: the E6 repeater 2.02 - Power is supplied to the EGRE by removing the E6 repeater housing and pushing the connector assembly over the 501A connector on the gain unit. C. Gently push the connector assembly the 501A connector until fully engaged. (a) Use a small screwdriver as a lever alternately behind pins 7 and 14 to disengage the connector assembly. @ American Telephone and Telegraph Printed in U.S.A. Tables A and B provide restrictions on the maximum number of E6REs which may be mounted in existing E6 repeater bays. Special attention to fuse and wire size is required. 2.06 The connector assembly does not affect the mounting arrangement of the repeater; therefore, the repeater V - Fig. Page 2 I-E6RE Packaged in E6 Repeater - 1% 1, SECTION 332-206-229 TABLE A PERMISSIBLE NUMBER OF E6 RANGE EXTENDERS EXISTING E6 REPEATER BAY 0-l/3 AMP FUSES ON 24-GAUGE WIRE) V REPEATER GROUPING REPEATERS REPEATERS WITH WITHOUT EGRE EGRE ON BAYS WITH EQUIPPED DISABLERS (J99253L) NO YES 18 3 15 12 5 7 12 4 8 ” 6 ’ V . d d d i 6 9 (TSPS) 6 ESS Single Bay No Restrictions ESS Double Bay 0 d d d d 3 d No Restrictions d No Restrictions d TABLE B PERMISSIBLE NUMBER OF E6 RANGE EXTENDERS MODIFIED E6 REPEATER BAY T I REPEATER GROUPING (3 AMP FUSES ON PO-GAUGE WIRE) REPEATERS REPEATERS WITH WITHOUT EGRE 18 ON BAYS WITH EQUIPPED DISABLERS (J99253L) EGRE NO YES 12 4 12 12 No Restriction 6 No Restriction 6 No Restriction No Restriction d No Restriction No Restriction 4 4 No Restriction 12 4 d 6 TSPS Filter A -- No Restriction 30 30 TSPS Filter B 12 d 4 d Page 3 3 Pages
