Celebrating 30 Years of PNW PROVIDING PEARLS OF KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM TO GOVERNMENT MEETING PROFESSIONALS FOR THREE DECADES! Monthly Chapter Meeting Notice RSVP NEEDED by Friday, February 6 to SGMP Gmail PLEASE! Wednesday, February 11, 2015 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Ramblin Jack’s Restaurant 520 East 4th Avenue Olympia, WA  (360) 754-8909 (indicate dietary restrictions with RSVP) Interactive Ethics Ethics can be fun! No—really! Join us on February 11th as we use an interactive quiz format to tackle some common scenarios faced by both planners and suppliers. Ethics is a subject that can be confusing if you don’t have the tools and resources available to help with your decisionmaking. What one planner sees as “no big deal”, another planner sees as “unethical”. This can be especially frustrating for suppliers who receive conflicting responses from their customers. As a group, we will decide on a correct response to each question in our Ethics Quiz before we enlist the aid of our federal and state Subject Matter Experts. Meet our Subject Matter Experts: Kate Reynolds is the Executive Director of the Washington State Executive Ethics Board. Before accepting her current position, Kate served as Special Assistant to the Commissioner at the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner and as an Assistant Attorney General in the Attorney General’s Office for Washington State. Commissioner Gary Hattal has been a Commissioner with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) since 1995 working with labor and management to bridge differences and manage conflict in both the private and public arenas. He has taught as an Adjunct Professor in several Universities in the fields of Organizational Communication, Development, Group Dynamics and Interpersonal Communication. This program is eligible for one contact hour in Ethics. Santa’s Castle is a private 501(c)(3) dedicated to providing Christmas gifts to military families (primarily E-4 and below) who are experiencing financial hardship. Service members are identified by their chain of command and referred to the program. Once accepted, the service member is scheduled for a shopping appointment where they come to Santa’s Castle to select gifts for their child or children. Gina Abram is one of the many dedicated volunteers that work year-round collecting donations of new toys, books, games, bicycles, stocking stuffers, coloring books, and crayons which we display in the castle. Service members selected for Santa’s Castle chose the items their child would like from the inventory we have on hand. They need things for all ages. They are always in need of infant items. SGMP will be collecting donated items and cash donations at the monthly meetings. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Bobbi at (206) 248-4330.
