"# $d %ing  “Masons designed Washington, Washington, DC!” Websites Websites trumpet this ‘news’ in huge red letters on a black forbidding background ostings to "nternet newsgroups point fingers accusingl# and demand ‘an answer’ $ or for Masons to pro%e that the# didn’t What&s the problem' (ard to tell ) e*cept that in a lot of folks& minds toda#, toda#, Washington DC is the s#mbol of all e%il ) and if the damn +reemasons designed it, then the#&re part of  the problem too "t’s no secret and Masons are proud to trumpet, often in a greatl# e*aggerated wa#, wa#, that members of the +raternit# were acti%e during the War for "ndependence in the nited -tates "t’s also well known that some of the brightest and most remembered r emembered men of that age were in%ol%ed in the initial establishment of the go%ernment ./he oft)repeated claim that all of Washington’s 0enerals 0enerals or that most of the signers s igners of the Declaration of "ndependence are e*aggerations that simpl# won’t die!1 During and following the 2merican 3e%olution, a large percentage of the population p opulation were Masons but to writers toda#, toda#, the reasons for this seem somehow unimaginable ./hose with an interest in this &phenomena& are referred to -tephen 4ullock&s 53e%olutionar# 4rotherhood51 &is i'pressive credentials "n 6777, “/he -ecret 2rchitecture of 8ur 9ation’s Capital” was first published $ oddl#, oddl#, considering the title titl e ) in 0reat 4ritain Written b# Da%id 8%ason, an  .not an architect, b# an# astrologer  .not stretch of the imagination or e%en an astronomer1 whose other works included two books about 9ostradamus, one of  which trumpets Mr Mr 8%ason&s disco%er# of  a secret language which had eluded all other researchers and the other, published 2+/:3 the horrific e%ents of  -eptember 66th, ;<<6 in 9ew 9 ew =ork claims to ha%e now found a >uatrain which foretold Secret Architecture http://www.masonicinfo.com/books/secretarchitecture.htm that e%ent! "t’s also important, we feel, to remind readers that an astronomer is one who is trained in science to understand the hea%ens? an astrologer is one who, usuall# self)taught and without an# formal education in scientific sub@ects, determines what a person’s life e%ents will be b# contemplating the position of the constellations at the time of their birthA in short, a fortune teller 9one of Mr 8%ason&s books re%eal his educational background erhaps there&s a reason' The "oo()s supporters* When &our little friends’ on the "nternet became aware of this book’s title, the# immediatel# began to shout that this was the final proof of all of Masonic conspirac# "gnoring both the book&s actual contents as well as the author&s credentials .or lack thereof1 the# immediatel# began to create all sorts of fanciful theories /he# trumpeted the ‘appro%al’ of +reemasonr# as e%idenced b# the preface written b# C +red Bleinknecht, , the -o%ereign 0rand Commander of the -outhern .-1 -cottish 3ite Eurisdiction "f the ‘heir’ to 2lbert ike would write an introduction to this book, this “pro%ed” that +reemasons designed Washington, DC Well, not >uite! (owe%er before we proceed, it’s important to understand the significance of this claim that Masons designed Washington 8n its face, it actuall# seems >uite complimentar# to the +raternit# while to man# it would be met with a response of “-o what'” or 5Who cares'5 (ere&s whatA for those with o%er)de%eloped imaginations, it’s a fearsome threat /o them, this ‘fact’ pro%es be#ond an# doubt their fears of a horrid Masonic conspirac# which $ depending on the indi%idual $ ma# take a %ariet# of forms -ome $ ignoring the three hundred #ear e*perience of +reemasonr# encouraging freedom of thought $ argue that it is now clear +reemasonr# is hell)bent on world con>uestA that the ‘signs’ implanted in the Washington street la#out along with that e#e in the p#ramid on the back of the dollar bill are the final proof .0ood thing the# figured it out in ;<<< after a couple of hundred #ears, isn’t it'1 The da'n aliens again+ 8thers, taking their imaginations e%en further, note that the la#out is proof that aliens from outer space influenced Masons who designed it Faugh if #ou will but for some, this is desperatel# real and the#’re con%inced be#ond an# e*planation /hose who’%e read this site for some time will recall our reporting that the huge ->uare and Compass placed in front of the 0eorge Washington 9ational Masonic Memorial was opined b# some as being the marker for the landing of the spacecraft at midnight on 6G6G;<<< with the increase in postal rates to cents @ust preceding that as a forewarning .8ur friend and 4rother (arr# F#ons was there on -hooter&s (ill in Hirginia at the Memorial at midnight that nightA alas, no spaceship ) or at least that&s what he&s sa#ing publicl# ) and now, ten #ears later, those aliens are still hiding, perhaps in the 9ew =ork subwa#s!1 2nd for the religious Iealots, this ‘design’ in the street plan is a signal for all that the Masons are establishing a secret religion which will pa%e the wa# for the coming of the Secret Architecture http://www.masonicinfo.com/books/secretarchitecture.htm anti)Christ 2gain, we’re a bit confused since the design has been there for a couple of  hundred #ears and no one has seen the anti)Christ or an# Masonic religion appear #et ) but wh# let facts get into the wa# of a good #arn, eh' Masonic encourage'ent* eall#* /he Masonic connection is further emphasiIed b# the introduction .a foreword, actuall#1 written b# C +red Blienknecht $ and anti)Masons ha%e made much of it 2fter reading their breathless claims for more than two #ears while awaiting publication, it came as >uite a shock to see what was actuall# written /he -o%ereign 0rand Commander writes that he sees a si'ilarit# 89F= between a ceiling design recommended b# 2lbert ike for a lodge .containing the constellations and planets1 and the other constellation designs 8%ason has found scattered in %arious statuar# throughout Washington DC "f that&s an ‘endorsement’ of this work, it&s prett# darn weak in our opinion (ere&s the 0rand Commander&s last sentence of his forewordA “His thesis may be controversial, but it is well thought out and presented.”  "f that’s what anti)Masons belie%e is un>ualified support, it ma# be because the#&%e unfamiliar with what a true endorsement looks like erhaps in the workplace, the#&%e ne%er had the cause to get one 2nd it was also to our surprise that Mr 8%ason seems >uite uninterested in an# of the theories as to wh# Masons would ha%e gone to such great lengths to ‘embed’ a message into the design of the capital cit# (is imagination about what Masons ostensibl# know, howe%er, seems boundless and aids in his fantas# at e%er# turn (e writes in his 2cknowledgement, “My thanks go to all those Masons and Masonic Lodges of present time who have helped me with questions which must surely have amused  those privy to the deeper secrets.”  2nd so, on this presumption, the book mo%es forward "t was on age 7 when the first of man#, man# unsubstantiated claims came leaping forth "n glancing through the book prior to reading, we&d noted nearl# J< pages of  tightl#)spaced footnotes -urel# these would at least allow us to follow through on the author&s claims, right' 4ut #et, he begins a discussion about the land on which Washington DC now stands and notes wishfull# that the ownership b# Eohn ope would be pleasant historicall# .in some sort of cosmicall#)ordained wa#, apparentl#1 if that indi%idual was related to Eohn ope who had settled in Massachusetts in 6K< (e notes that Eohn .from Dorchester1 was ‘a distant forbear’ of the architect Eohn 3ussell ope +ootnote for his source' 9ot a chance! "n truth, an#one Secret Architecture http://www.masonicinfo.com/books/secretarchitecture.htm looking at the earl# la#out of  Washington, DC can, with a bit of  imagination, see the design of a s>uare and compass Dan 4rown in his much later work, /he Fost -#mbol, notes this >uite clearl# to the chagrin of the main character&s students /hat these are the implements used b# +reemasonr# to remind members to circumscribe their desires and keep their passions within due bounds with all mankind is undeniable Eust as undeniable, howe%er, is that operati%e architects ha%e used such implements for thousands of  #ears and some of them surel# must ha%e been inspired b# their grace and practical applications of their tools ) e%en if the#&d ne%er @oined the fraternit# of +reemasons 4ut waitA that&s not what 8%ason is writing aboutA it&s -O!!!!! =es, the thrust of  this book is about the number of things that someone can pla# &connect the dots& with and come up with a rough appro*imation of what the constellation Hirgo looks like (ere&s an e*ampleA “he cornerstone for the !ashington Monument was laid at the northeast corner of the foundation in the early afternoon of "uly #, $%#%. &s ' have indicated, probably one reason why the Masons chose to lay the stone in the afternoon was because they wished to allow the all(important )irgo to become operative in the chart. *hortly before lunchtime on that day, the Moon went into )irgo.+ /ro"a"l#* Wh#' +ootnote' 9aw "n point of actual fact, 98 89: seems able to e%er produce an# documentation whatsoe%er that +reemasons in the nited -tates e%er used astrological information for an#thing other than hoping that the weather might be good for a cornerstone la#ing ./he &8ld +armer&s 2lmanac& was known to be kept in some lodges in 9ew :ngland, particularl# those which met b# the light of the full moon1 Hirgo, to Mr 8%ason seems to be e%er#where +'n fact, there was another )irgoan influence in this chart which might be missed by someone not familiar with the workings of astrology. he all(important ragon-s Head in the $%#% chart is in /  degrees of )irgo.+  2nd #et, while Mr 8%ason wants to tie the Masons to the Hirgo designs, he seems remarkabl# uninformed about who is a Mason and who isn&t (e writes about ierre Secret Architecture http://www.masonicinfo.com/books/secretarchitecture.htm F&:nfant, the original designer of Washington, “Later, he undertook special duties for  !ashington in 0rance, where 1almost certainly being a Mason2 he organi3ed a branch of the *ociety of 4incinnati, for which he designed its emblem.” 2ha! 2 footnoteA surel# this will pro%ide enlightenment to support his parenthetical assertion What do we find' 2 footnote statingA “'t is very likely that L-5nfant was a Mason.”  0S&1 "n addition, he glibl# identifies Hinnie 3eam .a sculptress and close friend of 2lbert ike1 and Madame 4la%atsk# as Masons -o much for his scrupulous research Not2so2(een o"servations /alking about the 0eorge Washington Monument, Mr 8%ason writes “'n spite of such delays and setbacks, a considerable change of vision was required to move from so thoroughly a neoclassical design as a horse(rider, to an obelisk which was essentially  5gyptian in spirit. Historical documents indicate that this change was directed by  Masons. 0urthermore, not only was the form of the monument different from that  anticipated by L-5nfant, it was not even sited in the position he had visuali3ed.”  2las, #et again not a single footnoted an#thing to e*plain how 8%ason has come to the conclusion it was directed b# Masons .of the &+reemason& %ariet#1!
