Trouble shooting Does a partial picture appear on the screen? Disconnect one of the YBuffer boards at a time. Is a ticking or popping noise in the panel? No No Does the panel have physical damage? Yes Replace the defective YBuffer panel. Replace the PDP panel. Refer to the Service manual for the correct screen diversity code. No Yes Replace PDP panel A Yes Is the power LED flashing? Make sure the screen diversity code is correct. Otherwise suspect the SSB. No No Does the set turn On? No Yes Yes Change the Power supply. After selecting the wide screen mode, does the picture fill the screen? Select the Wide Screen mode. Yes Does the set display video? No B Yes No No Does the set have OSD? Is 5 volts DC present on Pin 9 of 1M03 on the SSB? Refer to the Wiring interconnect Yes Are there lines in the picture? Refer to fig 1. Yes H Yes I Change the SSB. Yes No No Change SSB Does the Standby line, Pin 7 of 1M03 on the SSB go Low when the power button on the set or remote is pressed? Are there white specs in the picture? Refer to fig2. Is Error LED on Power supply alarm board blinking? Yes Yes F No No Does all of the power supply voltages turn On? Yes No Change the Power Supply Refer to the Service Manual and Technical Training manual for help with additional problems. Is Color present? No Change SSB Yes Change SSB Pg 2 A Are the lines vertical or horizontal? H This is a protection error. The first digit is represented by slow blinks while the second digit is represented by the fast blinks. Horizontal Change the Logic Buffer panel for the affected area. If this does not resolve the problem, change the PDP panel. Vertical Error 1, 2 , 3, 4, 5, 8, 53, or 11 Yes Change the upper Y-Buffer if in the upper part of the screen. Change the lower Y-Buffer if in the bottom of the screen. If this does not resolve the problem, change the PDP panel. Replace the SSB No Error 6 Yes Is the 5V SW voltage present on Pin 5 of 1M46 on SSB at turn On? No Error 7 Yes Yes Replace the SSB Is the 8.6 volt supply present on Pin 3 of 1M46 on the SSB at turn On? No Error 12 Replace the Power supply. No Replace the Power supply. No Yes Yes Replace the SSB Power supply or SSB. Check 12 volt supply from power supply. Replace the SSB. No Error 14 No Yes Remove power from the set and disconnect 1M52 and 1M02 from the Audio Amplifier panel. Does the set turn On? Yes Replace the Audio amplifier board. No B Repair complete Yes Replace the SSB Has the SSB been recently changed? C Yes Enter the screen diversity code with remote by pressing 0 6 2 5 9 8 Menu followed by the 3 digit screen diversity code. Did the picture return? No Repair the panel as Stand alone Pg 3 No C Change the Power supply Disconnect and remove the SSB. Disconnect the audio amplifier. Error 7 G No Disconnect the Y-Driver and run the Power supply stand alone. Is the error still present? Yes Yes Yes Disconnect the Logic board and run the power supply Stand alone. Is the error still present? Insert jumpers at J8003 and J8004 on the power supply. If checking the power supply without the logic board connect jumper at BJ8902. No Y-Driver - Y-Buffer boards Disconnect the Y - Buffer boards one at a time to check. No Replace the Power supply board. Yes Four Blinks - Error 4 Yes No No Change the Logic board Connect a jumper at CN2012 on the logic board to activate the white screen. Three Blinks - Error 3 No Replace the Power supply. This supply feeds the SSB. It has been disconnected at this point. Connect AC power to the set using the AC (Mains) filter. Yes Disconnect CN8104 to the Y-Driver board. Is the error still present? Yes Y-Driver - Y-Buffer boards Disconnect the Y - Buffer boards one at a time to check. No No Two Blinks - Error 2 Change the SSB Yes Does a white screen appear on the panel? Yes One blink Is LED BLD8001 on the Power supply blinking? No No F No Are LEDs 8002, 8001, and BD8903 On on the power supply? Yes Change the Logic board. REFER TO PAGE 6 Yes Yes Run the power supply in a stand alone mode. Is the error still present? Yes Is there a solid LED and Flashing LED on the Logic board? LEDs located in the upper right corner of the Logic board. No Are all of the supplies to the Logic board present? No Replace the power supply. No Yes J Disconnect one logic driver board at a time to determine which is defective. Pg 4 G Error 5 or 8 Remove the X-Driver board and run the power supply stand alone. Is the error still present? Yes Yes Change the power supply. No Change the X-Driver board. No Error 6, 9, 10, 11, or 13 or other. Change the Power supply. Yes I J Change the Y driver board if the power supply voltages to the panel are ok. Is “Y” drive present? Check this on the test point on the lower part of the Y buffer upper or lower. Yes Is the “X” drive signal present? Check this on the X board connectors to the panel. No Change the X driver board if the power supply voltages to the panel are ok. Are the Power Supply voltages correct? No Adjust the supply. Change the power supply if it cannot be adjusted to the correct voltage. Yes Change the X-Driver panel. No Yes Has the problem been resolved? Logic board No Change the PDP panel Pg 5 Yes Check for proper cable placement when reassembling. Figure 1 - line in picture - Defective TCP Disassembly tips Connector removal of the Y-Buffer boards. Gently pull up on each end of the panel ribbon connectors to the Y-Buffer as not to create stress on the ribbon connector. Checking the V4 panel power supply 1. To switch on the power supply while on the plasma panel with the Logic board connected, place jumpers on J8003 and J8004. To switch on the power supply outside the plasma panel, insert an additional jumper on BJ8902. 2. If LED8001 and LED8002 does not switch on, replace the power supply. Pg 6 3. The Alarm LED will blink if one of the supplies is missing or is overloaded on the power supply. Refer to the troubleshooting flow chart. 4. Placing a jumper on BJ8901 will disable the protection circuits in the power supply. This can cause additional damage. White screen switch On Place a jumper on the Logic board at the location shown. Place the jumper before applying AC power to the panel. Power Supply adjustment locations V4 power supply adjustment locations. Refer to the power set label on the panel for the correct voltages.
