Here you will find out what is happening and how to get involved as the parish “Embraces the Future.” Over the course of the next 11 months we will be actively planning for the future of the parish. Below are the 4 main goals that were determined by the parish leadership. We welcome your involvement. 1. Master Plan To develop and present a master plan for St. Benedict campus that includes evaluating and responding to space requirements for office, meeting and worship space; and evaluating and creating ways to incorporate the St. Benedict campus with that of our school St. John Bosco. 2. Ongoing Formation & Evangelization To recommend and institute ways to enhance every Catholic’s spiritual journey and to establish opportunities to share God’s word that results in a better understand of our Catholic faith. 3. Effective Communication To develop and present a comprehensive communication plan that includes all media in order to ensure that all parishioners and our community receives clear and accurate information in a timely manner. 4. Develop Vibrant Ministries for All To evaluate the effectiveness of existing ministries at St. Benedict, and develop, consider and develop new ministries that will satisfy the spiritual, physical, and any other needs of our parishioners and community members. Next Steps: While the 4 main goals have been determined, exactly how they are to be achieved has not. Our next step is to create the actual plans and engage the full community into the process. We invite you to please consider getting involved with one of the committees associated with each goal – there will be something here for everyone. (continued on page 7) Page 3 14th Sunday of Ordinary Time A Message from Fr. Bob Dear Friends, H appy New Year! Okay, so it’s not New Year • The online Bulletin will now be searchable. as we normally celebrate it, but for us July Since we have created the Online Bulletin in an 1 is the beginning of our Fiscal Year. And interactive format, all news items and details with that comes a new budget and often the start can now be found through the “Search” bar of new programs. Today, I am excited to share with on our site. This makes this information more you a few projects that we have been working on. accessible to you and to search engines. For starters, you probably noticed that the bulletin • We can actually share MORE details with you. you are reading looks a bit different than it has for We will no longer be confined by space issues the last few years. As the next step to integrating that we have with the paper bulletin. our new logo, I asked Tyler to redesign the bulletin • The paper Bulletin will still be available. We are to complement our new website and other marketing pieces. I think it looks great, but I may be a little biased. I hope you enjoy the new layout, but if you have thoughts and or suggestions on how we can make it better, please share with us. The other project I am really excited to share with you is our interactive Online Bulletin. In response to our Communication Goal from the Strategic Plan, the staff began to look at ways to make all the information of parish happenings accessible to everyone. They truly went above and beyond my expectations. This team created an online bulletin that gives everyone the ability to see any of the information we have in the paper bulletin, the Weekly Update and more. I invite you to visit our site and find out how it works for you. You can reach the Online Bulletin by clicking on the “Bulletin” tab in our main menu. There are a couple of really neat features about the new online bulletin that you should know: • You can share with your friends via Social Media. We have included a Social Media tool which enables you to easily share things happening here at the parish. Look for the Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr icons, etc at the bottom of any article. Help us spread the word - share! not doing away with the weekly paper bulletin, we are just enhancing our ability to communicate with you where you are. In addition, we will still have a pdf version of the paper Bulletin available for download from our website. Pope Francis himself said, “Good Communication helps us to grow closer, to know one another better, and ultimately, to grow in unity.” It is our goal to find how to best communicate so that we may all be closer and get to know one another better, and ultimately grow in unity. We are always looking to improve our communication. As a member of my staff is known to say on occasion, “We are getting there.” I couldn’t agree more! Thank you for your patience as we work through these new tools. Please continue to share your feedback with us as we refine this process. -Fr. Bob Page 4 stbenedict.org Faith Formation EPIC: Sports Monday Hey there high school teens!
