In common with other electrical appliances, the product must not used in wet or damp environments Do not immerse the product in water. Never touch the plug or use the unit with wet hands. Always unplug the unit before cleaning, moving or when not in use. Examine the product for wear and tear regularly. Do not use the unit if you see any signs of damage. Should damage be found the unit should be inspected and tested by a qualified electrician. This product is not intended for use by children or the infirm without adequate supervision Keep out of the reach of children. The unit will get hot whilst in use – Be careful when using it. Always use the handle. Do not overfill the sandwich maker – as this may damage the product. Do not use on or near hot appliance or surfaces. Ensure the unit is on a dry level surface before use. Position the unit in a suitable place as steam may be emitted from the ingredients when in use. Use care on opening and closing the unit. BEFORE USING THE PRODUCT • • • • • • Before using the sandwich maker for the first time, wipe both the interior and exterior with a slightly damp cloth or kitchen paper. Then to enhance the non-stick performance of the sandwich maker plates, rub the plates with a little butter or margarine that is suitable for frying. Switch on the unit. When using for the first time, the sandwich maker may emit a little smoke – this is normal. This is due to the plates “curing” and will stop after a short time. Following the first two steps will help reduce this. There are two lights on the sandwich maker. The red light indicates that the power is on and the green light indicates that the unit is heating. When the sandwich maker is up to cooking temperature, the green “ready” light will go out. This light will cycle on and off whilst in use – to keep a constant cooking temperature. For best results, wait until the unit is up to temperature before cooking. This will give crispier results. HOW TO USE YOUR SANDWICH MAKER • • • • • • • • Plug in the sandwich maker so that the unit is heating whilst you prepare your sandwiches. Spread the bread for the sandwiches evenly with butter or margarine suitable for frying. This will prevent the sandwich sticking to the plates. With the buttered side of the bread on the outside of the sandwich – fill your sandwich with the desired ingredient. Be careful not to overfill the sandwich, as forcing the unit closed may damage the appliance. When the “ready” light has switched off, carefully place the sandwich in the unit. Close the lid and secure with the catch on the handle. Your sandwich will normally take between 3-5 minutes to cook depending on your taste and the ingredients. Remove the sandwich with a wooden utensil (so as not to damage the non stick surface). Checking: Leave the sandwich to cook for about 2 minutes to allow it to seal before checking if the desired “browning” has been reached. Warning: The sandwich filling will be very hot!! Use care when eating and especially when serving to children. V1.1 01-2010 HOW TO USE YOUR WAFFLE MAKER • • • • Make a batter mix Add oil to the waffle maker and allow to heat.
