Dr. Adele “Z.Z.” Zorn Legendary singer-songwriter Barry Manilow‘s non-profit organization, the MANILOW MUSIC PROJECT, will put tens of thousands of dollars of musical instruments into the hands of 15 Clark County School District Middle Schools and High Schools. Barry Manilow was there at a celebratory delivery and distribution event at Valley High School in Clark County, Nevada. Reinvigorating the school system‘s music program at a critical time of need, and credited with putting instruments in the hands of 600 students who would otherwise be unable to participate; this is the single largest donation of its kind in Clark County history for a music program. Following the presentation, five semi-trucks filled with musical instruments were launched from the site to deliver the instruments throughout Clark County. Manilow, Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, district officials and hundreds of music teachers and students from the Clark County School District were in attendance for the presentation. A portion of the instruments were collected through the Paris Théâtre box office, where fans brought new and gently used musical instruments to receive a voucher for a Barry Manilow performance date of their choice. Barry Manilow credits his own secondary school music program as the genesis of his devotion to a legendary career in music, and considers the Manilow Music Project his chance to share that love of music with thousands of aspiring young musicians. He is currently performing more than 78 shows a year for two years at PARIS Las Vegas. The SUNCOAST welcomed entertainment icon and veteran of film, television and stage, Cloris Leachman in A One-Woman Show. This is one feisty gal at age 84 performing while on her feet and moving around for an elongated time as she draws from the magical moments of her dynamic professional and personal careers through stories, song and video clips of some of her most noted film and television roles. She plays a mean piano and interacts lavishly and sometimes shockingly with the audience including hugs for all at the entrance after the show. Cloris loves hugs. Cloris Leachman with Z.Z. Cloris Leachman is well known for playing landlady Phyllis Lindstrom on the ‗70s television series The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its eventual spin-off Phyllis. She played her first role on film at age seven. Seventy-seven years later, Cloris Leachman remains a much sought after talent due to her vast body of work in the entertainment industry. Her resume is so extensive and wide-ranging from comedy, drama, singing, dancing musician, author, etc., on stage, television, and film. that it would take this entire article just to include all. Cloris Dancing With The Stars In 2008, she was a contestant on the seventh season of ABC‘s Dancing With The Stars—the oldest contestant ever to appear on the series. Cloris Leachman has received nine Emmy Awards®, eight prime time and one daytime—the most ever won by an actor. Now she returns to television appearing in the Fox series Raising Hope as wacky grandmother Maw Maw. What a gal, and what a performer! Louie, Louie, you are one funny guy. Louie Anderson opened at the PALACE STATION in a showroom named for him, THE LOUIE ANDERSON THEATER. Two-time Emmy award winner, Louie Anderson is one of the country‘s most recognized and adored comics. Anderson‘s big break came in 1984 when he appeared on ―The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.‖ The comic‘s material relates stories about growing up in the Midwest, being one of 11 children and dealing with an alcoholic father. Audiences across the country easily relate to his take on life situations. Anderson was named by Comedy Central as ―One of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time.‖ His TV and film work includes starring in his own CBS sitcom ―The Louie Show‖ and his own comedy specials for both HBO and Showtime, as well as several films including ―Coming to America‖ opposite Eddie Murphy. A Las Vegan for some time, Louie‘s LOL is a laugh a minute performance. The cast of FANTASY celebrated the addition of bombshell vocalist, Lorena Peril, at its 11th anniversary and 2011 Swimsuit Calendar launch party at the LUXOR. I have seen this show numerous times and always enjoyed it, however, it is now a #1 fantastic show. Besides the gorgeous gals and the wonderful choreography by Anita Mann, the addition of Lorena Peril makes the show outstanding as does the one man in the show, Shawn E. Cooper. What this guy does and the high flying ribbon act makes this far more than what you might think is just a ―girly‘ sex show. Ladies, make sure you go too. At the 11th anniversary show, VIP guests received a sneak peak of the highly-anticipated calendar as the ladies of FANTASY walked the red carpet alongside their calendar pages, modeling the season‘s hottest swimwear. Local celebrities and entertainers also came out to show their support and walked the red carpet, including Criss Angel, Carrot Top, Thunder From Down Under, Anthony Cools, Nathan Burton, Recycled Percussion and cast members from Menopause The Musical. Following the show guests celebrated a VIP after party with the cast of FANTASY. Lorena Peril led in the ceremonial cutting of the cake, which included an over-the-top, custom design presented to the cast on behalf of LUXOR. Guests enjoyed an array or hors d‘oeuvres, cocktails and received an autographed calendar along with a behind-the-scenes making of the calendar video. Calendars are available for purchase at www.fantasyluxor.com. Prior to the VIP performance, which revealed Peril‘s powerhouse vocals and 17 exhilarating scenes, producer Anita Mann announced the show‘s partnership with Nevada Cancer Institute, in which a portion of calendar sales will benefit the organization. The City of Las Vegas also declared September 28 (my birthday) ―FANTASY Day,‖ with a proclamation presented by former Luxor President Felix Rappaport who now is President of MGM Resorts. NUNSENSE is now playing at the HILTON‘s Shimmer Lounge. A very talented cast brings this funny nonsensical story of nuns at a benefit performance for themselves to life. While the story line is a nonsense story and silly, the very able performances make it an enjoyable evening‘s entertainment. NUNSENSE concerns the efforts of five of the remaining nuns from the Little Sisters of Hoboken to bury the last few nuns in the convent who died in an accidental mass poisoning by Sister Julia (Child of God), the convent cook. When a parishioner volunteers to donate $10,000 to the sisters‘ school if they will perform in a club in Las Vegas, Mother Superior is hesistant to accept. However, after being convinced by the other sisters that ―what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas‖ Reverend Mother agrees. The last few nuns are being kept in the freezer until the burial funds can be raised via a cabaret style evening showcasing the nun's talent. The surviving nuns consist of the Mother Superior, Sister Mary Regina; her second in command, Mary Hubert; the novice, Mary Leo; the streetwise Robert Anne, and the confused Mary Amnesia. The able cast consists of well-known Las Vegas singing and dancing talents: Michelle Johnson; Kelly Clinton-Holmes (who is not able to perform as yet due to breaking her ankle while rehearsing her dancing at home); Janien Valentine‘ Diane Ellis; Robin Berry Vincent; Natalie Carson and Kathryn Arianoff. Comedy-magician Mac King currently celebrating his show‘s 10th anniversary at HARRAH‘s has had his contract extended for another five years through 2015 for a historic 15-year run. ―The Mac King Comedy Magic Show‖ has entertained more than 1,000,000 audience members in over 5,200 shows since opening in 2000. Mac King takes the stage at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.Tuesday through Saturday, in the Showroom Theatre at HARRAH‘s. To clarify any confusion that may have arisen from the PLAZA‘s recent announcement about their temporary room closures, The Rat Pack Is Back! show will remain OPEN! The showroom is located off the casino floor and the hotel‘s renovations will not have any effect on the production of the show. In fact, the show recently signed a 3-year contract. The Rat Pack Is Back! has entertained guests in Las Vegas for over twelve years and will continue their successful tribute show at The PLAZA nightly at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $49.99 plus tax. Thomas at The Club on Saturday, October 16 at 8 p.m. With treasured classics such as ―Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,‖ ―Rock ‗n‘ Roll Lullaby‖ and ―Hooked on a Feeling‖ he has one of the most distinctive voices in American pop. Celebrating more than 50 years in entertainment, The Osmonds – brothers Wayne, Merrill, Jay and Jimmy –will perform October 22, 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. Five decades ago, the young Osmond boys were flashed across national television screens on The Andy Williams Show, what was meant to be a one-time shot at the big time. That single appearance led the Osmonds to seven seasons as regulars on the show. The Osmond brothers enjoyed professional gigs at Disneyland and with The Jerry Lewis Show before they signed with MGM Records and skyrocketed to worldwide recognition. Known for their versatility and for shaping musical styles to fit their talents – they mastered 28 musical instruments – the Osmonds gained further exposure with the 1976 advent of The Donny and Marie Show. With the Osmond brothers as executive producers, the show was a true example of their abilities to project the unified quality of their own family relationship, and in 1979 the show transformed into The Osmond Family Show.
