Page 2 Overview This document is designed to guide the installation of Omnitracs XRS Mobile to your Android device. Please keep in mind that devices using the Android Operating System frequently feature icons that are unique to a specific device, but are general in their function. A HOME icon may l ook different from one device to the next but, in each case, the icon s function returns you to your device s home screen. Device Preparation In order to install Omnitracs XRS Mobile to your device, the settings must be configured to download non-market applications. Android devices will vary. Here are some common paths to enable the Unknown Sources field in your device. 1. Select your device Settings icon. 2. Select Security. Then select the Unknown sources checkbox. OR 3. An advisory message will appear. Select OK. After downloading and installing Omnitracs XRS Mobile, the previous steps can be repeated to restore the setting to prevent the installation of applications from unknown sources. However, if the Unknown Sources option is disabled, updates of Omnitracs XRS Mobile cannot be installed until the option is re-enabled XRS Corporation. All rights reserved. Page 3 Installing Omnitracs XRS Mobile to an Android Device Omnitracs XRS mobile software can be obtained for your Android device through one of three methods: Installation Method 1: QR Code scan Installation Method 2: By entering a download address into your device s browser Installation Method 3: SMS text message sent when the device is added in the Omnitracs XRS website Installation Method 1: QR Code Scan If your device has a QR (Quick Response) Code reader, you may scan the following QR Code and the Omnitracs XRS mobile download will occur after you confirm you wish to accept the download. Installation Method 2: URL Address Enter mp.xataxrs.com/xrs.apk into your device s browser URL window. Visiting this URL automatically downloads Omnitracs XRS Mobile software to your device. Page 4 Installation Method 3: SMS Text Message Open the SMS text message Omnitracs XRS has sent to your device. Open the installation file from your Downloads screen. Select Install to begin the installation process. Select Open to access Omnitracs XRS Mobile immediately. Verify your phone number when Omnitracs XRS Mobile opens. Select Done to return to your device home screen. Once you ve successfully installed Omnitracs XRS Mobile to your device, return to the Quick Start Guide for the next installation. Page 5 Depending on the version of your device operating system, downloaded items can be found in a variety of areas. Download Area 1 Touch the menu icon to open an options menu. Find the Downloads link in the list. Download Area 2 Select the icon at the bottom to reveal the download. Download Area 3 Swipe to reveal the utility menu Page 6 Select Save. Select the application from your download cache. Select Install. Select Open to access Omnitracs XRS Mobile immediately. Verify your phone number when Omnitracs XRS Mobile opens. Select Done to return to your device home screen. Once you ve successfully installed Omnitracs XRS Mobile to your device, return to the Quick Start Guide for the next installation. Page 7
