My Initial Beliefs1 Running head: My BELIEFS ON TECHNOLOGY IN EARLY CHILDHOOD SETTINGS My Initials Beliefs on Technology in Early Childhood Settings Tammy R. Gysberg Rasmussen College Author Note This research is being submitted on November 16, 2017, for Joanne Floth EC326/EEc3026 Section 05 Technology and Developmentally Appropriate Practices Course.  My Initial Beliefs2 My Initials Beliefs on Technology in Early Childhood Settings Children are growing up in a wireless technology world and as teachers we need to prepare the kiddos for the skills to participate in society and enrich their creative knowledge through digital Tools that will keep getting faster and more developed in are twenty first century. I wondered if the children would retain the information from technology or present the information to others. We have to be up to date and know the ins and outs of the digital media and content for are classrooms. A study done by Lori Takeuchi (2007) at the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop concluded with several recommendations for the industry of technology and young children. We need to embrace the change of teaching and plan our goals to teach to the sky and not be afraid. Develop new skills and strategies to prepare students for the outside tech demanding jobs and tasks. Through the effort of academic information the cost is less and the students will gain knowledge through open sources online when they can’t participate in the classroom.  Some worry that to much technology is getting in the way of relationships, communication and interacting with others. The texts books are being replaced with chrome books, tablets so we can research just about anything with these to transform are lives and make it easier to learn. The wide spread it has with the schools are huge we embrace the successful learning more interesting through video’s pictures and physical ability to work and learn on their own pace and abilities and needs they have. So we wonder do the kids understand more with technology? Did they have fun? If the students enjoyed and learned just as much writing on the smart board or using pen paper. Do we take the extra time to teach them to use technology or pen paper?  My Initial Beliefs3 We desire technology in are classroom as we model how to use them introducing new concepts, skill and routine to using them gently and sharing. Talk about the rules guidelines and just observe how they interact with them, as it will be part of their daily life and working knowledge. The families can see what we are doing in class by visiting are website with a few clicks of the m ouse on the school web site. “Children seem to understand events and situations, so it’s Important to introduce technology to children and explain to them how it will be used. For Cameras, teachers need to inform children that the classroom camera(s) will be used to create Memories on exciting days capture moments when they have learned something new, and share Information with others. When this is done carefully and intentionally, children will understand the presence of the camera at any time This will in turn reduce the distractions of Engagement. ” (Brian Puerling 2012) The interactive technology we have help the kiddos learn from watching and listening from the smart board and having fun. We have a smart board that we use everyday for are morning meeting to start the day off with the days of the week, colors, shapes, songs, names, etc. this has made wasting paper the past. We just put on a story and the kids can watch listen and then be able to process the material on their own pace. The interactive games are their favorite like silly songs, ABC mouse. Sense of creativity is a very nice way to share everyone art work on the smart board and they can share what they made and tell the whole class about it and then we can send it to parents via email, texts. The learning academic is an awesome way to provide the opportunity physically engaging with the white board in classrooms. We can discuss the letters and numbers to the whole group all at once to help the children interact with the smart board. Children are able to engage with other  peers in the class and use their communication skills to recall and apply the information to  My Initial Beliefs4 others. “Technology is one, but only one, piece of the early childhood curriculum. Use it with balance and with creativity ” Epstein, S, Ann. (2015 ,February 3).  My Initial Beliefs5 References Chiong, Cynthia, and Carly Shuler. 2010.  Learning: Is There an App for That?
